What is HPV?
HPV is a type of viral infection. Different types of HPV can also be detected at the same time. While some types of HPV cause genital warts, some types can settle in the cervix and cause cancer. Genital warts appear as light or dark brown bumps and sometimes spots on the skin. While they may appear singly, more than one wart may appear side by side. Warts are sometimes mistaken for moles or are not noticed at all.
Diagnosis and Treatment
HPV DNA test is performed for the presence of HPV types. It is a simple painless swab test. When a carcinogenic type of virus is detected, Colposcopy and Cervical Biopsy tests are performed. It is a procedure that can be performed with local anesthesia. The treatment of warts is done by burning with local or general anesthesia.
